Today I Am God's Child

Testimony by Indu Chellam

My desire to know about God started right from my childhood which encouraged me to visit this church. Watching my mother’s faith in Jesus Christ and her prayers were my inspiration in getting to know about Him. I attended catechism classes in school to know more about God.

I came to know about this church through Samuel while I was studying in college. Initially it was just curiosity which brought me to church. I did not have any relationship with God. I lived for myself. It was just a question of trial and error. I always found a gap, and things did not relate or make sense to me.

There was a point in my life when I had a near death experience. It was a difficult time for me and my family as I recovered from it. God had worked in a marvelous way in our lives as my parents stood by me and supported me.

I had no hope that I would be able to stand up on my own feet. I found my strength in the Lord. It is amazing how God worked in my life and brought me close to Him. This experience had brought me to the realization that I need to be saved and need to live a holy life, as it says in  Romans 10: 9, 10

I wanted the words from the scripture to apply to my life. I was encouraged through the sermons at this church. Our pastor (Nelson) and Marie were always there to encourage and guide me. I am blessed with friends like Rebekah and Samuel, whose lives were an example to me.

Today I am God’s child, as it says in 1John 5:1. I have the joy to realize that I am no longer bound to sin. As God’s child I know from the scripture that God has given me spiritual gift to serve Him in this church.

I desire to join this church where I want to make a public declaration of my faith through baptism. I appreciate my friends and the members of this church, for their prayers for me and my family in knowing God and now to serve Him.
